The SAPS offers careers in various fields. If you join the SAPS you can either become a police official or a civilian employee.

The posts contained in the SAPS circular are vacant and will be advertised externally in the Rapport, Sunday Times and City Press on 2015-05-24.

Employees on levels other than those advertised and that conform to the requirements are invited to apply.

The contents of this circular will be available on the South African Police Service website and will also be circulated to all email users by means of Communications Nodal Point and must be made available to all employees of the South African Police Service.

Minimum Requirements:

*Applicants must display competency in the core functions of the post;

*Be fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English;

*Must have no criminal record or pending criminal / departmental cases and be able to render at least ten (10) years pensionable service;

*Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification;

*Computer literacy, interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills

Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website and at SAPS recruitment offices) will be accepted.

The Z83 previously utilized will no longer be accepted.

All instructions on the application form must be adhered to and all previous/pending criminal/disciplinary convictions must be declared.

Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application.

PARAMEDIC JOB DESCRIPTION

Paramedics provide immediate response to emergency medical 999 calls. They are usually the first senior healthcare professional on the scene and are responsible for assessing a patients condition and providing essential treatment prior to hospital admission. Treatment includes: resuscitating and stabilising patients; using high tech equipment e.g. defibrillator; applying spinal and traction splints; administering intravenous drips, drugs and oxygen. Paramedics attend emergencies including minor injuries, sudden illness, and casualties arising from road and rail accidents, criminal violence, fires and other incidents. They are usually in a two-person ambulance crew with the other being an ambulance technician or emergency care assistant, who helps them. Some work is alone however, using an emergency response car, motorbike or bicycle to get to a patient. Paramedics can become air ambulance crew members with extra training…..

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain machines
  • Replace blades when worn
  • Ensure that machine guards are filled
  • Care of plants whilst operating the machine
  • Any other duties as instructed when not operating a machine such as cleaning of vehicles and machines and buildings
  • Mark field for soccer, rugby, hockey, softball and baseball
  • Water fields
  • Spray weed killer, fungicides and herbicides
  • Do spring treatment on cricket pitches, bowling greens and all other grass surfaces
