The Bootcamp is 4 weeks of intense problem solving and is the last step in your application process.

You will have to come to campus every single day during the Bootcamp (including weekends!), and work for at least 10 hours a day.

You will have to work with your fellow students to solve problems through computer programming.

The top applicants who successfully make it through the 4-week selection Bootcamp, will be invited to attend WeThinkCode_ full time.

When do the selection Bootcamps take place, and when does the course start?

There are three 4-week intense selection Bootcamps in January, February and March 2016.

If you pass the aptitude test, you will be asked to choose which Bootcamp you wish to attend.

Successful candidates from the Bootcamps will start the course full time in May 2016.

How long will the applications be open?

There are three deadlines to submit your application; apply for the January Bootcamp by 30 November 2015, the February Bootcamp by 30 December 2015 and the March Bootcamp by 31 January 2016.

How long is the course?

Students are expected to complete the course in approximately 2 years.

The work is project based, and it is estimated that most candidates will earn their first 4 month internship after 8 months of full time course work.

This internship will be followed by a further 8 months (approximately) of course work, in order to qualify for the second and final 4 month internship.

How much does it cost?

The course is 100% free for WeThinkCode_ students. Corporate sponsors pay your tuition, and in exchange you will complete two (paid) 4 month internships with them during the course of your studies. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be required to work back the value of your sponsorship (typically 1-2 years) with your sponsor.

How many students will be accepted?

100 students will be accepted into the first class of 2016.

Is there any further financial assistance available?

Qualifying students will receive a stipend to cover transport and food until their first paid internship (approximately 8 months into the course).

Students are expected to save up whereafter they will be fully responsible for themselves for the duration of the course.

Free Tablet When You Register at PC Training

When I started schooling, I used to write on a piece of slate like, then we progress to paper as we are still doing  now. Technology is moving on, so many things are being digitalised. I guess things are getting much better and better by day.

Read more below about PC Training’s innovation in digitalising education.

PC Training and Business College launched its R100 million, first-ever learning initiative which is set to revolutionize and enhance learners’ learning experience and the education process in South Africa. Up to 23 000 Telefunken Tablet PCs will be made available to learners registering for Higher and Further Education (vocational) qualifications for FREE when they enroll with the College for 2012. These education enhancing tools will be made available in January across all 70 of PC Training and Business College’s campuses Nationally. This means that every learner who registers at the College for a full qualification will receive their very own Tablet PC at no additional cost as part of their learning programme and experience at this privately owned tertiary Institution.

According to PC Training and Business College CEO, Jay Ramnundlall, “intensive research was conducted by the Institutions MIS Department to source the best TABLET”, hence their specifications to manufacturers was to provide learners with a more user friendly and responsive tablet having a 10.1 inch capacitative screen, that will enrich the learning experience of its learners. PC Training and Business College has partnered with Telefunken in an innovative approach in supplying all learners with the latest Telefunken Tablet PC and accompanying connectivity. The year 2011/2 carries the highest cost burden to the Institution as all learners will have to be issued with their Tablet PCs which is covered with a two year factory warranty, the first year being a swop out and the second year being a repair warranty. While the Institution is providing learners with a Tablet PC free of charge this has not influenced its pricing structure. The Institution’s fee structure is very affordable with an average of cost of R15 000 per year, having only increased by a mere 7% from the previous year.

You can register with PC Training online and can also apply for their bursary for 2015.

BASIC MILITARY TRAINING

Basic Military Training is compulsory to all uniform personnel of the SA National Defence Force and is presented at the Air Force Gymnasium Boston (AFB Hoedspruit), over a period of approximately 13 weeks.

The following subjects will, amongst others, be presented during the training period:

  • Drill
  • Military law
  • Military ceremonies
  • Buddy aid
  • Physical training and Soldiership
General Requirements
There is a general entry requirement for joining the air force as everyone must be fit to serve in a military environment. Each mustering in the SAAF, also known as occupational class in the public service and trade in the technical environment of civil aviation, has requirements for specific educational qualifications, additional personal attributes and a willingness to serve under the working conditions of that mustering. The minimum general entry requirements for the Military Skills Development Program (MSDS) are that you must be:

  • A South African Citizen and relinquish any other citizenship
  • Age between 18 and 22 at the time of joining (Not more than 26 for graduates)
  • Must be single when applying and remain single for the duration of training
  • Comply with medical fitness requirements for appointment in the SANDF
  • Currently in Grade 12 or completed Grade 12
  • Not be area bound
  • Must not have a criminal record
  • Comply with all the prescribed requirements for appointment in the SANDF
  • Must be willing to relocate and to participate in deployments both in South Africa and abroad if required to do so
  • Be recommended by a selection board.

Serving in the air force is far more than just having a job, it is a way of life.
Serving in the air force means more than just having a job. When not on duty, your behaviour has also to be beyond reproach as civil society looks up to you. You have to set an example at all times. Volunteers are required to pledge that they will uphold a strict Code of Conduct.

What you do constitutes a vocation when you serve in the air force. You invest most of your time in the air force and in a real sense you become identified with the air force. Your whole personality development is associated with what you do and how you do it.

Viewing your work as a vocation, of which the ultimate function is the preservation of a worthwhile way of life for all the inhabitants of South Africa, permits you to find meaningfulness and a sense of accomplishment.

Serving in the air force requires particular psychological and physical attributes and the intellectual potential for developing the unique compete- ncies required in the air force. Not everybody has these attributes and it is a selected few who will qualify for appointment in the air force.

Individuals who join the airforce are required to have certain basic attributes, while each mustering (or occupational class) include additional attribute requirements. For example, electricians must not be colour blind, as they have to identify wiring in circuits by colour codes. Exclusion from one mustering does not disqualify you from being considered for another.

The SAAF needs all-rounders who will he able to accept the responsibility of leadership. Leadership in the air force is split between officers and other ranks. The officer is required to make considered judgements and warrant officers and non-commissioned officers lead and motivate their subordinates. They form the backbone of the air force and support the officers.

As a junior NCO and junior officer you function at a level in the air force where you are responsible to do what is required of you.

At the same time you are required to develop as an officer or NCO, and you are given the opportunity to undertake new tasks in addition to your normal tasks for which you were trained.

Ability depends en yourself; you either have it or not, -and in both instances you can improve yourself if you are prepared to develop yourself and make full use of the learning opportunities provided. At an early stage in your career it is essential to gain experience in the work place, for this provides the credibility needed to earn respect in senior positions.

Experience is gained through optimum exposure to a variety of situations. It is not gained overnight. You develop more rapidly at an early age when you are still in a formative phase. Later it becomes more difficult to adapt to the military way of life
